Mac Allister scored the winning goal for the Reds on Tuesday evening – the second time he has netted against Madrid in the past 12 months.

In quotes relayed by the Liverpool Echo, the Argentine’s father, Carlos, played down rumours of a move to the Spanish giants.

“I read the rumours, but that’s all they were. There was no contact,” Mac Allister said.

“In any case, it’s always nice when my son is linked with the biggest clubs in the world.

“Real Madrid is a very big club, but so is Liverpool, and we must be responsible and respect the institution he belongs to and that believed in him.

“I have to be prudent. He plays for Liverpool now. In the future, if the opportunity arises and it’s appropriate, he’ll have to make his own decisions.”

Mac Allister is back in form and such a vital player for Liverpool, and losing him while still in his prime cannot happen.

Granted, the lure of Madrid is great for South American players, but hopefully, he is happy at Anfield.
