The Portland Trail Blazers have embarked on a new season. It’s exciting, fun, and it has at least decent prospects of being better than any of the past four. That’s an amazing way to start the year.
Here’s another amazing thing.
Today we’re announcing Blazer’s Edge Night, 2025-26. That’s our annual charity event where readers of this website band together to buy tickets for local kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to see the Blazers play. Sometimes that’s an economic thing. Sometimes it’s because the infrastructure just isn’t there to support children and youth taking off for Moda Center to see a game. Either way, a gift that we take for granted is denied a significant number of young Blazers fans among us.
That’s where we step in. We get letters from teachers, principals, coaches, and counselors who work with kids in need. They write and ask if there’s any chance they could get tickets for their children. They provide transportation and chaperones. We donate tickets for all the kids and their accompanying adults with no charge to them. It’s a beautiful symbiosis. Over the years, we’ve sent almost 30,000 kids and adults to Blazers games. Sometimes they come in entire classrooms, other times in smaller groups. Either way, we say yes…yes…and YES to as many as possible.
But this only works because our readers are generous with ticket donations. We have had a few partners: local business or Trail Blazers figures who have bought blocks of tickets. But the vast majority of donated tickets come in groups of 1 or 2, 4 or 10, from people just like you. It’s one of the most direct, grassroots events around.
Donating tickets is easy too! Here are the details:
This year’s game is the Trail Blazers vs. the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, March 10th.
The Blazers have set up a special website through which you can purchase tickets directly from them. There’s no overhead from us. You purchase from the Blazers, just as if you were buying tickets for yourself. Except instead of going into your personal ticket account, they go into a larger pool from which we distribute to the various groups and kids who come. You can buy any amount, from 1 ticket to a whole bunch! Prices start at just $13. For that price–about a Big Mac and a half–you can make the year of one of our participants who otherwise wouldn’t be able to see the Blazers play in person.

Thank you to everyone who will donate. Very soon youth leaders and teachers will start writing and asking if we have enough tickets for them. Please help us give out a lot of “YES-es!” this year. Go Blazers, and Go Blazer’s Edge Night!
