James Cook injury update from Buffalo Bills is troubling for RB's Week 10 status

The Buffalo Bills have an injury concern with running back James Cook ahead of their Week 10 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Cook sustained an ankle injury in the Week 9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs that forced him to leave the game. However, Cook did get back into the contest, which showed his issue wasn't that serious.

That said, as we turn the page to Week 10, Cook will not be practicing on Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott told reporters.

"Bills RB James Cook (ankle/foot) and EDGE Joey Bosa (wrist) among Buffalo players who won’t practice today due to injuries," NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported. "Cook came out of game sore and banged up so sitting him today."

While this obviously isn't great news, it's not entirely unexpected considering Cook clearly didn't leave last week's game 100%. It's possible he could practice and the Bills are just being cautious early in the week.

Buffalo will drop two more injury updates this week, so we'll be looking out for any uptick in participation on Thursday. Even so much as a limited practice would be a welcomed sight.

We would be more concerned if Cook doesn't practice on Thursday, but we won't lose hope for him until we see what he does on Friday. That said, fantasy football owners should start preparing for the worst just in case.

Who is James Cook's handcuff?

If Cook does not suit up, Ray Davis would likely take the bulk of the carries, with Ty Johnson serving as the passing-down back while also taking some carries.

We'd consider Davis a flex play in that situation, but Johnson isn't someone we'd trust in lineups.
