West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a move for Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck, with the 24-year-old German international said to be keen on a switch to the Premier League.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Hammers are among the clubs monitoring Bisseck’s situation closely, with Nuno Espírito Santo expected to receive funds to strengthen in the January transfer window. The powerful centre-back only joined Inter in July 2023, but limited game time and a desire to test himself in England may prompt a move.
West Ham’s need for defensive depth has been exposed with the injury to Konstantinos Mavropanos. Sure, we have loanee Igor in reserve but if I’m honest, I’ve seen so little of the Brighton man it’s hard to make an assessment.

January Reinforcements Still Needed
Despite a much-improved display in the 3-1 win over Newcastle, the Hammers have looked fragile at the back for much of the season. That result saw Nuno shuffle his pack, with Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo finally looking like the £75m pairing the club had hoped for.
Todibo, in particular, looked composed and commanding — the sort of performance we’ve been waiting for since his big-money arrival. But as the old saying goes, one swallow doesn’t make a summer, and West Ham’s defensive issues are far from resolved.
Bringing in a player like Bisseck would add both quality and competition but he’s starting games for Inter so I’m not entirely sure why he’d swap a Serie A title chase for a relegation battle. The German has recently broken into the national team setup and was widely seen as one of the Bundesliga’s more physically dominant defenders before moving to Italy.
Nuno may be starting to work his magic, but there’s no hiding from the fact this West Ham side still needs serious reinforcement. That said, as a transfer source told Claret & Hugh yesterday, any likely arrivals are likely to be loan deals or from South America.
