Edwards remains the bookmakers’ favourite for the vacant managerial position at Molineux despite once again insisting last night that his sole focus is on his current role at Teesside.
Boro officials remain confident Edwards will be remaining in the post he is contracted to until the summer of 2028 and there has still been no formal contact between Wolves officials and the senior hierarchy at the Riverside.
However, that has not stopped the speculation linking the Boro boss with a return to Wolves, where has he has previously been a player, Under-23s coach and interim manager, with Edwards so far having stopped short of categorically ruling out a switch to the Black Country.
Edwards’ next chance to address the situation will come when he speaks to the press on Friday ahead of Boro’s weekend home game with Birmingham City, and it is looking increasingly unlikely that Wolves will have made a decision on their managerial situation by then.

Middlesbrough can follow Sunderland's lead after what happened at Leicester
Under-21s head coach, James Collins, and Under-18s boss, Richard Walker, are taking charge of Wolves training, and now look like remaining in charge for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea. Wolves’ executive team will then reassess the situation during the international break.
Wolves had spoken to their former manager Gary O’Neil about the vacancy, but the former Boro midfielder has withdrawn from the race.
Edwards was asked about his own position in the wake of Boro’s 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Tuesday night, and claimed that the situation remained unchanged from Monday, when he was first asked about the links to Wolves.
“It’s exactly the same, nothing has changed,” said Edwards. “As I keep on saying, it’s my wife and my daughter that are keeping me abreast of it all, I’ve not paid any attention to it at all myself.
“I’m just concentrating on my job here at Middlesbrough. That’s absolutely my only focus, and I’m really pleased with what we’ve delivered over the last couple of days.
“It’s been a difficult turnaround for everyone. I’m really pleased with everyone’s focus. Hopefully, you can clearly see that my mind has only been on this.”
