Devin Booker gives Stephen Curry example when asked about leaving Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns drafted Devin Booker with the 13th overall pick in 2015. The 4-time NBA All-Star is entering his 11th season with the franchise. Although many still regard him as a young star, Booker is squarely in his prime. Which is why his current loyalty to the Suns has led to some raised eyebrows.

Booker and the Suns went to the NBA Finals in 2021. Since then, the roster around him has changed drastically twice. As constructed, Phoenix is far from a contender. Their 3-5 record to start the 2025-26 season is a testament to that. But Book’s love affair with the city and the franchise is about more than results to him.

Booker has been linked with moves to other franchises. But in a recent interview, he explained how his perspective is using the example of the greatest shooter ever.

“You know it because there’s not many,” Booker told The Athletic about loyal superstars like Curry. “So I know he holds a special place in everybody’s heart here in the Bay. And I feel a similar type of love in Phoenix.

“It’s something special. It’s kind of hard to explain, but there’s a different type of love that comes with it. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Curry has four championships with the Warriors, while Booker has yet to win the ultimate prize. That’s the main difference between the two. It’s hard to deny, though, that in the modern NBA, it is refreshing to see a superstar this loyal to the same team he was drafted by.
