Baird is out of contract in 2026 and as a result, could secure a free transfer as multiple sides are alerted to his availability.
The teenager has yet to feature for the U18s this season. It further suggests that an exit from Thorp Arch is the best course of action for Baird.
Leeds United need to find the best pathway for their youngsters
Developing youngsters at Leeds has always been a strong point. But, how the club handle them as they transition to senior football has been inconsistent.
There has been several instances where United haven’t found an ideal solution. Players like Max Dean, Elia Caprile, even Rafa Mujica have shown with senior exposure that they were good enough for more opportunities.
Even if youngsters aren’t going to get playing time at Leeds, finding loan minutes for them is crucial. We want to still retain valuable assets, so developing them better is vital.
