Detroit Lions add 3 offensive linemen to practice squad

The Detroit Lions are bringing in a bunch of offensive line reinforcements this week. Not only have they started the evaluation clock on fifth-round rookie Miles Frazier, but the team announced on Wednesday that they have added three offensive linemen to their practice squad: Jack Conley, Chris Hubbard, and Netane Muti.

We wrote about Conley’s addition on Tuesday night when the news leaked out to the media. While Conley, an undrafted rookie, is a more developmental add, Hubbard and Muti are veterans who give Detroit’s depth some serious experience.

Hubbard has been in the league since 2013, and has started 61 games in his career. He’s played for the Steelers, Browns, Titans, and was most recently with the Giants, playing in eight games and starting three for New York last season. Hubbard has mostly played tackle (or the sixth offensive line position) in the past six years of his career, but earlier in his career he filled in at both guard and center. He has not spent time with any team in 2025, however.

Muti is a familiar name, as the five-year veteran has spent portions of the last two seasons with the Lions. His 2024 season was lost due to a training camp injury, and he failed to make the team this year out of training camp. But with 22 games of experience and four starts to his name, he give Detroit some veteran guard experience in the wake of Christian Mahogany’s long-term injury.

Detroit may need all the help they can get on the offensive line, considering Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell are also dealing with ailments that could cause them to miss Sunday’s game against the Commanders.

The Lions had two open spots on their practice squad going into Wednesday: one left by last week’s release of Christian Fuller, and the other after the Dolphins poached Andre Carter off the Lions’ practice squad this week. It’s unclear where the other practice squad opening is coming from, but there are likely more roster moves to come on Wednesday.
