'Mistakes' - Palace request change in date to Premier League clash after Arteta demand

Crystal Palace have asked the Premier League to move their trip to Leeds next month.

It comes after the date for their Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Arsenal was confirmed.

Arsenal and Palace have both asked the Premier League to move their matches on December 21

‘They’re doomed’ - Wolves given bleak warning after new candidate entered managerial race

The Eagles will visit the Emirates Stadium on December 23, just two days after they face Leeds in the league.

Arsenal are also scheduled to be in Premier League action against Everton on Sunday, December 21.

Mikel Arteta revealed earlier this week that the Gunners are seeking a new date for their match against the Toffees.

Prior to Arsenal's win over Slavia Prague, the Spaniard said: "Hopefully they will move our Premier League match, because to play two days later doesn't make any sense.

"So now we decide the date, I am sure they will change the Premier League (match) as well."

Palace have now followed suit, Oliver Glasner confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of his side's Conference League match against AZ Alkmaar, he told reporters: "We are trying the same thing that Arsenal are trying, to move our Leeds game forward to Saturday, so we don't have two days between these games.

"We didn't get a response until now from the Premier League, just to have the same as Arsenal, if their game is moved."

Nightmare run

Palace currently face a run of five matches in just 12 days across the Conference League, Premier League and Carabao Cup.

However, moving their trip to Elland Road to Saturday, December 20 would not ease their fixture congestion.

The FA Cup winners are set to face Finnish side KuPS at Selhurst Park at 8pm on Thursday, December 18.

Both their match with Leeds and Everton vs Arsenal are currently scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, December 21.

The EFL announced the date and kick-off times for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Monday following last week's draw.

In doing so, they also hit out at UEFA over their scheduling of European matches.

Glasner is hopeful the governing bodies can learn from this season's scheduling issues in the future.

The Austrian added: "I am always talking about making mistakes being part of development.
