Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9 after a strong performance against the Indianapolis Colts.
Highsmith logged four combined tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, three tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, and a pass defensed in Pittsburgh’s 27-20 win.
The award marks Highsmith’s third career Defensive Player of the Week honors. He’s now up to 3.5 sacks on the season, having played six games so far in 2025.
Highsmith’s performance was a key factor in the Steeler defense’s six-takeaway day against the Colts’ top-ranked offense.
“We came out and we did what we know we can do this week,” Highsmith said via [Steelers.com](https://www.steelers.com/news/highsmith-earns-afc-honor-for-his-performance). “We came out and we obviously stopped the run. That’s where it starts. And then our culture came alive. We had five turnovers. When we do that, we’re an amazing defense.”
