Will Terry McLaurin return in Week 10? Latest injury update on Commanders WR

It has been a disastrous season for Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

After playing in the team's first three games of the season, McLaurin sustained a quad injury in Week 3 that forced him to miss four straight games.

Then, after McLaurin returned to action in Week 8, he reaggravated the quad issue, which led to him sitting out in Week 9.

Ahead of a Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions, McLaurin's status remains in doubt. Here's what we know about the Commanders wide receiver.

Will Terry McLaurin return in Week 10?

Sadly, it doesn't look like McLaurin is going to make it back this week.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, not only is McLaurin expected to sit out in Week 10, he could miss multiple more games.

"My understanding is that he is going to be out next week as well. The third game, he could also miss," Rapoport reported. "They have a bye after that, so there is a possibility that [Terry] McLaurin misses three more games for Washington."

The Commanders will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more then, but we wouldn't expect him to be practicing.

If McLaurin sits out through the bye, which looks likely, the Commanders won't have him on the field until Week 13, at the earliest.

With McLaurin sidelined yet again, Deebo Samuel will take the mantle of the No. 1 wide receiver in Washington. However, his upside is limited because of the injury to Jayden Daniels, who could miss the rest of the season.

Samuel did have a strong game when Marcus Mariota started in Week 4, when the veteran wideout tallied six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. But that showing is sandwiched in between stat lines of 2/11/0 and 3/11/0 in Mariota's other starts.

We would suggest keeping Samuel on the bench, but he could be a flex option for owners in a desperate situation.
