Manchester United scouts are monitoring Wendeson Santos Dell, aka Dell, at the Under-17 World Cup, with the striker already impressing with his display.
According to United in Focus, Manchester United scouts are on alert for several young stars participating in the Under-17 World Cup, including Dell. The Bahia striker has been watched by the club’s scouts at the event in Qatar, as he impressed with a two-goal display against Honduras recently.
Wendeson Santos Dell, aka Dell, is a Brazilian striker playing for EC Bahia’s Under-20 sides, but he is understood to be close to making his first team breakthrough if things go to plan. The teenager has featured on the bench of the senior team once this season, while he has overall played two first-team games so far, but none in the league.
Currently, Dell is leading the line for Brazil in the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, and Manchester United scouts watched him in action as he scored a brace against Honduras in a 7-0 win. The striker was able to show the clinical side to his game in the rout, despite not having too many chances on the pitch otherwise.
Manchester United scouts are in Qatar to keep watch on several talents on their list, but that did not initially include Dell. However, they have now watched the 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid in action against Honduras and might angle more viewing in the coming period as Brazil progresses in the tournament.
They had also signed Sekou Kone on the back of his performances in the Under-17 World Cup from two years ago, with the teenager making the move in the summer of 2024. They might view a similar path for Dell if the club were open to the idea of opening negotiations with Bahia in the near future.
Dell compared to Erling Haaland
Dell has been compared to Erling Haaland as per the report, not for his physical stature, considering the 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid is not as tall as the Norwegian, but for his style of play. The Bahia teenager is pacey and is known to take his chances, similar to the Manchester City star.
Manchester United might consider a move as they would like to add competition in the youth ranks. They did sign Chido Obi Martin last year from Arsenal, with the striker close to breaking into the first team, but the Red Devils may seek competition for those spots, as Dell could be a viable option, although he might only be able to leave Brazil after he turns 18, which may not be until June 2026.
