Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

Alexis Mac Allister scored the decisive goal, ensuring Trent Alexander-Arnold’s first return to his former home ended in defeat.

Curtis Jones made his comeback from injury, featuring for the first time after missing Liverpool’s last two matches with a groin problem.

The result keeps Arne Slot’s side firmly in contention for a top-eight finish and direct qualification to the knockout stages.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to face Manchester City, with just one point separating the two sides.

Slot continues to manage several injury concerns but remains hopeful that one or two players will return in time for the clash.

Jeremie Frimpong, however, remains sidelined with a muscle issue sustained in the win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Dutch wing-back has now missed four consecutive matches, and Slot confirmed earlier this week that he does not expect to have him alongside Alisson Becker available for the City game.

However, Alexander Isak could be available for selection on Sunday.

“All three are not available for tomorrow,” head coach Slot told his pre-Real press conference on Monday.

“Jeremie and Alisson will both also not be available for Sunday.

“With Alex we have to wait and see. Definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad.

“He is still not training with the team, so we have to wait and see.”

Frimpong recently shared a video on TikTok from the AXA Training Centre, showing him undergoing rehabilitation for a recurring hamstring problem as he works towards a full recovery
