The Washington Commanders are back on the practice field as they get ready to host the Detroit Lions at Northwest Stadium on Sunday. Dan Quinn spoke to reporters before practice, and was asked about Jayden Daniels’s elbow injury. He wasn’t placed on injured reserve yesterday when the team shut down CB Marshon Lattimore (ACL) and WR Luke McCaffrey (collarbone). The team will have a final medical meeting today, and Daniels could still be placed on IR, but they want to review the options and second opinions on the injury. Quinn said they should have a decision on his status in the next day or two.
Injuries have been hitting some position groups harder than others, but DL, WR, and CB have been going through it this season. Quinn didn’t specifically name a Lattimore replacement, but talked about Mike Sainristil and some of his struggles after moving back to the slot. Sainristil could now move back outside, along with rookie Trey Amos. Quinn talked about Sainristil’s recent interceptions, but also said he needs to stay disciplined, and not get out of position to try to make a big play. He also mentioned veteran CB Jonathan Jones who is back from his own stint on IR.
