NY Knicks go after Donald Trump after socialist Mamdani wins

The New York Knicks have contacted the White House about the removal of a social media post mocking the newly elected mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, according to Front Office Sports. Mamdani defeated Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa and independent Andrew Cuomo, who had the endorsement of Donald Trump, with the race being called late Tuesday night.

The White House’s official account then proceeded to make a post mocking Mandani using the Knicks’ official logo, which altered the original logo to read “Trump Is Your President.”

“The Knicks remain neutral on political matters,” [the franchise said in a statement to _Front Office Sports_ on Wednesday](https://frontofficesports.com/zohran-mamdani-new-york-trump-knicks/). “We hope all our elected officials, whether current or recently elected, do a great job in office.”

Neither the Mamdani campaign nor White House press office responded to the situation publicly.

It’s worth noting that this all occurred only two weeks after the Knicks sent Mamdani a cease-and-desist for attempting to use his own alterations to the Knicks’ logo, which read “New York Zohran.”

“The Knicks want to make it clear that we do not endorse Mr. Mamdani for Mayor, and we object to his use of our copyrighted logo,” a team spokesperson said with regard to the Mamdani situation. “We will pursue all legal remedies to enforce our rights.”

At least in this day and age, the Knicks are making the decision to focus on sports and not get involved in unnecessary politics.
