Ruben Amorim has kept a positive tone around the club despite dropping points last weekend, and all focus will be on the match against Tottenham on Saturday to head into the November break on a high note.

There is a growing optimism around United’s chances of success this season, but there are some undeniable flaws that Amorim and his squad must work on.

Man United have not won a single second half in 2025/26

United have won five league games this season but have remarkably failed to win a single second half in any of their 10 matches.

As per Football 365, United sit 18th in the Premier League table if only the second half of matches were counted.

United have drawn six second halves and lost four. The only other top-flight side yet to win a second half is bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

A five-minute loss of concentration against Forest saw the hosts score twice in quick succession, while United also risked throwing away three points against Brighton by allowing two late goals at Old Trafford the week before.

TalkingPoints

“We were in control of the game. In the Premier League, if you disconnect for five minutes you can change the result.”

It is a concerning trend that United’s focus appears to drop after the half-time whistle, and it is something Amorim will want to address.

Man United had the opposite problem last season

Amorim will be left scratching his head at United’s second-half problem, especially as he had the exact opposite issue in 2024/25.

Last season, United were struggling to score in the first half. It was so bad that at one point, United had only scored once in the first half in their past 17 matches.

United often found themselves starting poorly and chasing games heading into the second half. This season, United are starting well but are risking collapse after the break.

Consistency and focus will be key for Amorim and his staff to turn this around.
