Blyth-born Dan Burn scores great header for Newcastle in the Champions League

Dan Burn has scored another great header for Newcastle United in a big game.

The Blyth-born defender rose to power home the opening goal as the Toon Army beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in March.

And he again scored the first goal of the game – with another bullet header – in tonight’s Champions League fixture against Spanish team Athletic Club.

Newcastle were 1-0 up at half time as they aim to win three consecutive games at the highest level of European club competition.

Burn’s efforts throughout his career were recognised at the end of last season when he was awarded the Freedom of Northumberland at a special ceremony at County Hall in Morpeth.

He is making a real difference through Newcastle United’s community and grassroots work and Northumberland County Council wanted to highlight what he is like as a person as well as his achievements on the pitch.
