Real Madrid and [Liverpool](https://walkon.com/) have gone toe to toe in the Champions League year after year, including last night when the Reds shut down the Royal Whites 1-0, and they have also gone against each other many times in the transfer market.
After signing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool last summer, Real Madrid are heavily linked to star center back Ibrahima Konate. Although Real seem to be more interested in Dayot Upamecano than Konate at this point, they remain tracking the impending Liverpool free agent for a summer 2026 swoop.
According to a report from Diario AS, however, Real Madrid no longer appear to be as interested in signing away Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, as they have actually left the transfer race for Guehi entirely due to his wages being too high for them.
Liverpool have Guehi at the very top of their transfer wishlist of targets, not only because they want to potentially replace Konate with him, but also because they want one more top caliber center back option.
Guehi is one of the best and most proven center backs in the Premier League. Liverpool actually had a deal signed and nearly sealed for him this past summer window, but Oliver Glasner stepped in and interfered to stop it from going through on deadline day.
