[Chelsea](https://chelseanews.com/) dropped valuable points in the Champions League on Wednesday night, enabling underdogs Qarabag to continue their surprise run in the tournament by dropping a 2-2 draw to a team they should have easily beaten on paper.
There were a number of poor performers on Chelsea as a whole, but no player looked more out of their depth than Tyrique George. The forward inexplicably drew the start for Chelsea on the road against Qarabag.
Worse yet, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca named George the starting striker with Joao Pedro behind him as the 10. He left two superior young No. 9’s on the bench in Marc Guiu and Liam Delap, instead entrusting a forward who has never looked Chelsea quality when on the pitch.
Any Chelsea fan could have told Maresca before the game started that he was making a huge mistake, and Maresca had to take George off at the half; that’s how bad he was.
George was the worst player on the pitch, and his lumbering, invisible performance cost Chelsea the game. The Blues would have almost certainly scored one more goal in 45 minutes if George wasn’t out there, wasting space and everybody’s time as a crucial management error from Maresca.
Chelsea fans can’t help but wonder what on earth Maresca sees in this guy that makes him play George.
