Traded Jets star on what he brings to new team: ‘I’ve been taking a step forward’

As part of a pair of blockbuster trades conducted by Jets general manager Darren Mougey on Tuesday, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has been sent to Dallas.

Speaking to reporters for the first time as a Cowboy, Williams was asked what his new team can expect from him a s a player.

“Being disruptive, being dominant and rushing the passer and also, this year, I’ve been taking a step forward on stopping the run,” Williams said. “I know, I’ve been reading a lot of stuff and seeing a lot of stuff on Dallas stopping the run, so having the opportunity to come here and help those guys out on that and just help turn this thing around.”

In exchange for Williams, the Jets receive a 2026 second-round pick from Dallas, a 2027 first-round pick and defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

This season, Williams has recorded one sack, 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three quarterback hits. Per Pro Football Focus, he’s the highest graded interior defensive lineman (90.8) in the league at stopping the run out of players who have played at least 40 snaps in run defense.
