Newcastle United may have secured victory in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but it came at a cost. The Magpies secured a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at St James' Park with goals from Dan Burn and Joelinton earning a crucial victory against the Spanish side.
Those three points mean that Newcastle sit sixth in the 36-team table. They are in the top eight automatic last-16 spots on goal difference, while being six points clear in the top 24 with four games left to play.
While the victory has done wonders for the club's hopes of reaching the last 16 of Europe's top competition, it hasn't helped their injury list.
Anthony Gordon Suffers Worrying Injury Blow

Anthony Gordon was named in the starting lineup to face Athletic Bilbao, but his night came to a premature end. Just 40 minutes into the game, Gordon was replaced by Jacob Murphy in what appeared to be a curious decision, with Eddie Howe later explaining the reason for the change.
Speaking after the Athletic Bilbao clash, Howe explained: "I've not spoken to him and I haven't really had a full rundown from the medical team. It seems like a recurrence of his hip injury that has been plaguing him in recent weeks. We'll assess that and see what damage is there."
Gordon suffered a hip injury while away with England in March. It's been a problem that has hampered him since. William Osula was another player to suffer an injury on the night. The forward withdrew from his place on the bench after feeling a pain in his ankle.
Explaining the situation, Howe said: "We’ve just been in discussions with him at length about his ankle in the last few days, as to whether he’s fit enough to actually perform to the level that we need and that he’s comfortable with.
“After a discussion, we felt it was best to withdraw him and try to get his ankle 100% right.” As a result, both Gordon and Osula are doubts for the upcoming Premier League clash with Brentford on Sunday afternoon.
