Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills once again got the upper hand on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the regular season last week. The Bills [sent the Chiefs into the bye week with a 28-21 loss](https://kckingdom.com/patrick-mahomes-assigns-blame-chiefs-collapse-bills-statement-win-01k95exs20kc).
The Chiefs couldn’t take advantage of a beleaguered Bills’ run defense, while Buffalo RB James Cook racked up 114 yards on the ground on 27 carries. As for Buffalo’s defense, they forced the Chiefs’ superstar QB into an interception and sacked him three times. Veteran pass rusher Joey Bosa had one of those sacks.
Coming off such a big win, one would think the Bills would be ready to go at practice to start this week, but it appears they’re a little bit banged up.
On Wednesday, [Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network reported](https://x.com/cameronwolfe/status/1986117599592161457?s=46) that Cook and Bosa are among the Bills players who won’t practice due to injuries. Cook is dealing with ankle and foot injuries, while Bosa has a wrist injury. Wolfe adds that the star RB came out of last week’s game sore and banged up.
James Cook, Joey Bosa Banged Up Following Week 9 Win Over Chiefs
----------------------------------------------------------------
Even though the Chiefs did not come away with the win, which they would’ve loved to pick up to go into the bye, it seems that the Bills are going through it to start the week.
We all knew heading into last week’s game in Buffalo that it would be physical, as both teams wanted to assert themselves. The Bills did that with Cook on the ground and Bosa on the defensive line, who also had two tackles for loss and five quarterback hits. But it might’ve come at a cost.
Cook’s 27 carries against Kansas City were the most he had all season, and shockingly, in his entire career, which is incredible to think about given the way Buffalo prioritizes the run.
That said, it’s not abnormal for teams to rest their star players or key starters, who might be banged up on the first day of a practice week. Now, if Cook or Bosa were to not practice on Thursday, it could be time to sound the alarm bells.
However, the good news for the Bills is that they’re scheduled to face the lowly Miami Dolphins, who were rocked in Week 9 by the Baltimore Ravens, 28-6, and have lost four out of their last five games.
Buffalo should be able to beat the Dolphins without one or both of those guys, but we’ve seen weirder things happen in the NFL just this season. The Chiefs would love to see the Bills lose, as it will put them only a game behind them for the fifth wild-card spot.
