Heading into a Wednesday night matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors face will an uphill climb.
The Warriors' legendary 37-year-old guard was ruled out for the contest against Sacramento due to an illness, and a new update has indicated that their night won't be getting any easier despite the Kings' star duo of 27.4-point scorer Zach LaVine and dominant rebounding center Domantas Sabonis also being sidelined for the night.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, Golden State's 6-time All-Star Jimmy Butler will not be available against to face their in-division rival.
"Jimmy Butler has been ruled out tonight with that lower back strain," Slater shared via X on Wednesday evening.
"Downgraded from questionable."
Though he had attempted to play through the injury, Butler was not given the go-ahead for tonight's matchup.
Even with both LaVine and Sabonis out due to back and rib injuries, respectively, Golden State will have their hands full against Sacramento's 6-time All-Star and methodical scoring guard DeMar DeRozan.
The crafty 36-year-old has showed no signs of slowing down to begin his 17th NBA campaign, as he's averaged a cool 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals through seven games while knocking down 50.0% of his looks from the field.
With Golden State's 5-time All-Defensive Team selection Butler missing from the lineup, all hands will be on deck in an effort to limit DeRozan's effectiveness.
