Former Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis signed with the Los Angeles Rams practice squad Wednesday, putting him on his fourth professional team.
The Rams have had trouble at kicker this season, with Joshua Karty, a sixth-round pick in 2024, going 10-for-15 on field goals and 23-for-26 on extra points.
Mevis, who is currently the only other kicker on Los Angeles’ roster or practice squad, has been brought in as competition for Karty.
According to NFL rules, the Rams will have the chance to elevate Mevis to the game-day roster for two games before they have to choose whether or not to sign him to the active roster.
Mevis spent this summer with the New York Jets, signing in June before being waived, then signing to the practice squad following preseason roster cutdowns. He was waived by the Jets on Sept. 26.
Mevis went undrafted after his career with Missouri before signing for a brief offseason stint with the Carolina Panthers.
The second stint in the NFL for Mevis comes after an impressive spring in the UFL, where his 60 points for the Birmingham Stallions were third-most in the league. He was named the league’s special teams player of the week in Week 7 after making a 52-yard kick.

Mevis ended his collegiate career as Missouri’s all-time leading scorer, being the Tigers’ starting kicker from 2020-2023.
The “Thiccer Kicker” made his longest kick with Missouri against then-No. 15 Kansas State. It was a 61-yard boot to seal a win for the Tigers as time expired in 2023. The kick was also the longest field goal in SEC history.
