Where will Liverpool finish in the Premier League based on the latest results?
Despite their recent torrid run of form, the Reds could leapfrog their rivals with a statement victory away from home. The reigning champions will travel to the Etihad on Sunday to face Pep Guardiola’s side, who are currently just one point above Liverpool in the standings.
Arsenal will be much harder to catch. Thanks to their impressive winning run and Liverpool’s dramatic nosedive, the Gunners boast a six-point lead at the top of the table and have lost just one game so far this season.
While at least one of Liverpool and City are guaranteed to drop points, Arsenal are preparing to face this season’s surprise packages Sunderland, who are currently fourth in the table and level on points with Liverpool.
Final Premier League table predicted ahead of Liverpool vs Man City
Opta’s Supercomputer is constantly changing based on the latest Premier League results. Each point and lost plays a part in the predicted outcome of the final table at the end of the season.
Liverpool were able to break their four-game run of defeats with a much-needed win over Aston Villa last time out. If they can keep their form alive, we will see plenty more changes in the projected final table. For now however, here’s Opta’s latest predictions based on the latest round of results, starting from the relegated teams and working upwards.
Relegated teams
20th: Wolves
19th: West Ham
18th: Nottingham Forest
Wolves are still without their first win of the season and have just two points on the board so far, with Vitor Pereira also no longer at the club. Nottingham Forest are currently headed up by Sean Dyche but look way off the side that was challenging for top four last season.
The bottom half of the table
17th: Burnley
16th: Leeds United
15th: Sunderland
14th: Fulham
13th: Everton
12th: Brentford
11th: Tottenham Hotspur
All newly promoted teams have been predicted to survive the drop this season. However, the dream of a European charge for Sunderland is expected to be short-lived, with them projected to finish 15th.
Tottenham’s strong start has also been predicted to fizzle away as they don’t even make the top ten.

European battle spots
10th: Newcastle United
9th: Brighton
8th: Manchester United
7th: Bournemouth
6th: Aston Villa
5th: Crystal Palace
4th: Chelsea
Manchester United are on for a much stronger season compared to their last two disappointing finishes, however, still not enough to crack the top four. Crystal Palace continue to go from strength to strength, while Bournemouth are also projected to better last season’s ninth-place finish.
The title candidates
3rd: Liverpool
2nd: Manchester City
1st: Arsenal
Arsenal have been predicted to top the table this season and claim their first Premier League title win since 2004, by quite some margin too. Their run of results so far in comparison to Liverpool and City has given a predicted ten-point cushion at the end of the season.
Liverpool have been predicted to finish third, with less than 70 points on the board and left completely in the dust by Arsenal.
