An American woman who booked a tour of Anfield Stadium was stunned after a child asked her one question. Kelsey Kotzur, from Brooklyn, travelled to Liverpool as part of a trip to the UK with her husband, Jared, at the start of November.
After spending a few days in London, the pair travelled to the city before heading to Taggy's Bar to watch Andy Hodgson sing. They then attended Liverpool FC's home game against Aston Villa FC on Saturday, November 1, where LFC won 2-0.
But when the couple went on a tour of Anfield the following day, Kelsey shared on TikTok that she couldn't help but shake her head when she was asked a question by a child.
She said: "Just had a tour of Anfield, and we were with a group of kids. The tour guide was asking where everyone was from, and we said we were from Brooklyn and this kid looks at me and goes 'you're from America? Do you carry a gun with you?'
"And I was like, 'no, no I don't have a gun', and he was like 'you don't have a gun?'. He was baffled that we didn't have guns.
"So that's what they think about America."
Fellow Americans commented on Kelsey's post to say they were "embarrassed" by what people thought of them, while another added they had a similar situation.
The user said: "Yep. I went to Iceland and the hotel shuttle driver thought everyone owned a gun."
Jared said he started to support Liverpool FC after he "fell in love" with the club, the city and it's culture. He said: "It’s actually crazy, I didn’t even realize how many parallels there were between scouse/LFC culture and who I am naturally when I started supported.
"It’s legit like fate haha, had no choice in the matter!"
During their trip to the city, the couple also visited Penny Lane and hoped to get a Sunday roast from Hawksmoor, but arrived after the cut-off.
