Wolves are on the search a new manager, after parting ways with Vítor Pereira. They are without a win in the league and are currently bottom of the table.
Erik ten Hag is in the running to become the new manager at Molineux.
Two days ago, Algemeen Dagblad stated Wolves made contact with the manager’s agent on Monday. Later that day, ESPN NL reported the former Manchester United boss is eager to work in England again.
On Wednesday, NOS reported Ten Hag’s agent had confirmed the interest.
A fresh report from Algemeen Dagblad suggests Wolves may have to worry about Ajax.
It’s claimed Ajax director Alex Kroes has been speaking with Ten Hag. Sources have informed the newspaper it was ‘just a coffee meeting that had been planned for some time’.
Ajax haven’t had a good season so far this season under John Heitinga. They suffered a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Galatasaray yesterday.
After the latest defeat, AD claim Kroes ay have realised it’s best to bring Ten Hag back to the club. He managed the Eredivisie side between 2018 and 2022 and won three titles.
They state: ‘Because only Ten Hag, undisputed in Amsterdam, can halt Ajax’s decline in the short term, and simultaneously bring some peace to all levels.’
They believe Heitinga can’t turn things around and Ten Hag is the ‘logical and feasible’ option. The latter has been without a job since his quick exit from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this season.
AD say Ajax and Kroes must hope that Ten Hag ‘harbours a desire for revenge, and that he considers the Amsterdam club a better option than the equally interested’ Wolves.
