Borussia Dortmund’s unbeaten run in the Champions League came to an end on Wednesday night, as they fell 4-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, Nico Schlotterbeck voiced his frustration, admitting that Dortmund had effectively “handed” the game to their opponents after a promising start.
“We were in the game for 15 minutes, and then we just completely handed it over to City for 20 minutes. During that spell, they really played us off the park,” the BVB centre-back said, acknowledging that Manchester City fully deserved their victory.
“After halftime it was actually okay, but we still conceded the third goal. After making it 1–3, we had a good phase.
“Nevertheless, you have to say: We lost deservedly, because we simply weren’t good enough.”
