Wolves winger still tied to former club – Clause could shape future

Wolves’ poor run has made Jhon Arias a hot topic back in Brazil, where he had a very successful spell with Fluminense. Talk of his potential return keeps growing, and now a new twist has emerged.

As relayed by BolaVip, Brazilian insider outlet NetFlu reports Fluminense added a buy-back clause when they sold the Colombian winger to Wolves last July for around £18.5m (€22m).

The deal gives the Rio club the right to match any offer from another Brazilian side – even Flamengo – if Arias ever decides to return to the country.

There’s a Brazilian belief that clause could matter soon. Arias has struggled in England, recording just one assist in seven Premier League matches. Rumours in Rio suggest Flamengo are already planning a bid for 2026, but Fluminense’s clause would let them make the final call.

The big question in Brazil is whether Fluminense can afford to match a Flamengo offer to Wolves. Even so, the fine print in that contract might prove more decisive than any rumour about Arias’ next move.
