Leeds United given fresh transfer hope as claim over Coventry City star emerges

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has questioned whether Coventry City star Haji Wright would reject the advances of Leeds United.

He has struck eight goals in 13 league outings this term, helping to lift the Sky Blues to the Championship summit.

However, Football Insider have suggested Leeds would find it difficult to lure the USA international from the Midlands.

Haji Wright latest

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke said: “I would fully expect Coventry to keep hold of Haji Wright and the player himself looks like he’s happy there and Coventry don’t really need to sell.”

Goodman, meanwhile, has indicated the lure of Premier League football could prove strong for the highly-rated marksman.

He told Football League World: "It's an interesting decision that Haji Wright would have to make. I'm not sure if you can snub a Premier League club in November, when the transfer window is a while away yet, and obviously we need to establish whether this is just speculation or not.

"Look, they're two phenomenal clubs, but I'm not sure that there are many Championship players who would turn down the opportunity to come to a Premier League club.

"This may come down to how Leeds are looking in the table. Will he be joining a relegation battle? Or will they be comfortable, and he can then establish himself as a Premier League player? So, it's a difficult decision all round, but a nice position for him to be in."

Leeds United’s forward options

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been the frontman of choice at Elland Road this term, although the goals are yet to start flowing for the former Everton star.

Lukas Nmecha has appeared regularly from the bench, while Joel Piroe has been a bit-part player as the third-choice forward option.

Leeds also have teenage prodigy Harry Gray on their books, although he is still waiting for his Premier League debut.
