Liverpool get Isak injury update as Sweden make squad decision

The striker has been included in the [Sweden](/topic/sweden) squad for their World Cup qualifier with Switzerland a week on Saturday, and their clash with Slovenia three days later.

Slot is expected to provide a further update on Isak during Friday’s pre-Man City press conference, though the signs are positive regarding a return to the squad.

"With Alex we have to wait and see. Definitely not starting on Sunday, but maybe he can be involved in the squad,” Slot revealed on Tuesday.

"He is still not training with the team, so we have to wait and see."

In Isak’s absence, Hugo Ekitike has lead the line in the last two games and will be expected to do so once again at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool go into that game on the back of an impressive win against Real Madrid in midweek and are seeking to record a third straight win against Pep Guardiola’s side after completing the double over them last season without conceding a goal.
