Charlton’s U18s unbeaten run continued on Saturday as they drew 3-3 with Brentford in an action-packed encounter at Sparrows Lane.
Sam Washington-Amoah, Ellis McMillan and Shia-Lee Burnham were all on the scoresheet for the young Addicks, but a last-minute goal from the Bees prevented Jason Pearce’s side from taking all three points.
Charlton took the lead inside 15 minutes through Washington-Amoah, after some lovely work in the box from Bradley Tagoe, who danced his way through the Brentford defence and fed the ball for Washington-Amoah to calmly slot beyond the Bees goalkeeper.
The young Addicks doubled their lead not long after. McMillan produced a great strike from outside the box that went beyond Connor Wolfheimer and into the bottom corner.
Brentford struck back twice in quick succession through Yerime Ouattara and Michel Boni before half-time to level the scoring.
Charlton restored their lead 15 minutes into the second period, with a perfect turn and finish into the bottom corner. McMillan fed through to Burnham on the edge of the area, who showed excellent strength and composure to turn away from the Brentford defender to find the back of the net.
However, the young Addicks were forced to share the spoils as Beau Redknapp equalised for the visitors on 89 minutes.
The U18s return to action on Saturday when they host Swansea City (KO 2pm GMT)
