Valverde set to undergo tests on groin injury this Thursday

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde is about to undergo tests which will determine the extent of the groin injury he suffered during the team’s 1-0 loss to Liverpool on Tuesday. Valverde had to leave the field and it looks like he sustained an injury which could keep him out for several weeks, although the club will publish an injury report later today.

In his absence, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be the undisputed starter at the right-back spot, given that Carvajal is also out with a knee injury. Alexander-Arnold just made his return and will likely be rusty, but Real Madrid are out of options for that spot right now.

Los Blancos have a tough schedule ahead with five consecutive away games against Rayo Vallecano, Elche, Olympiakos, Girona and Athletic Bilbao. While that’s manageable opposition, winning those five games on the road will not be an easy task for Real Madrid, even more so if Valverde needs to miss them all.
