Whilst the chance to sign Kobbie Mainoo may be slipping through the club’s fingers, West Ham remain firmly in the hunt for another Manchester United player.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who’s had a busy morning detailing the Hammers’ potential January activity. With Niclas Füllkrug seemingly trying to engineer an exit through his agent and the German media, Nuno Espirito Santo is actively searching for a striker.
According to the Italian ITK, one name near the top of the list is Joshua Zirkzee, who has already been linked with a move to the London Stadium several times — though Roma are also said to be keen.

Zirkzee still interests West Ham according to Romano
Zirkzee on West Ham’s Radar
Romano explained: “Joshua Zirkzee has not formally asked to leave Manchester United, but he is in a similar position to Mainoo – eager for more game time ahead of the World Cup. He remains professional and fully focused in training, and Ruben Amorim is happy with his attitude.
That said, interest is building. West Ham are looking for a striker and have Zirkzee on their shortlist, while Roma in Italy are also exploring the situation. Whether he moves will depend entirely on United’s approval for a loan deal. If given the green light, England and Italy are likely destinations.”
Romano also hinted at possible two-way transfer traffic between West Ham and Manchester United involving Lucas Paquetá. However, Claret & Hugh have been told by a source close to the player that any winter switch for the Brazilian is “highly unlikely.”
With so many transfer rumours following Romano’s report, C&H have contacted the usual sources in an effort to get some clarification. We’ll report back later.
