“He’ll leave” – Steve Cooper tipped for quick PL return after Nottingham Forest and Leicester City experiences

Stig Tøfting believes former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City manager Steve Cooper could return to England.

Tøfting analyses Cooper’s situation at Brøndby IF for Viaplay and Tipsbladet relay his comments.

Nottingham Forest returned to the Premier League under Cooper’s orders. He managed the Reds for over two years between September 2021 and December 2023. He returned to the bench when Leicester City appointed him as their manager in July 2024.

The 45-year-old was shown the exit door in November 2024. He was without a job until he joined Brøndby IF in September. Cooper’s deal is until 2028 but the former Denmark international insists he won’t fulfil it.

Tøfting suspects Cooper to leave Brøndby if a Premier League side were to make an offer.

“He has a contract until June 30, 2028. I don’t believe that Steve Cooper will be coach at Brøndby until June 30, 2028. If a proper offer comes from a Premier League club, he’ll leave,” he said.

Nottingham Forest sacked Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou this season. Prior to appointing Sean Dyche, there were rumours of Cooper returning to the club.

Last month, the former Leicester City boss made it clear on two different occasions that he’s committed to Brøndby.

On October 30th, Brøndby were knocked out of the cup competition by FC Nordsjaelland. After the defeat, Cooper made an explosive statement that his side have to improve a lot, both on and off the pitch.

Tøfting indicates the ex-Nottingham Forest and Leicester City manager isn’t happy.

“If Steve Cooper comes up with this, then you have to support it. Then you have to say what it is that you want, and then we can decide on it,” Tøfting explained.

“We can’t comment on the things he’s bringing up now, but he’s obviously unhappy with something…”
