Week 10 opponent: What the Commanders are saying

5. Linebacker Frankie Luvu talked Wednesday about his original suspension for Sunday's game against Detroit being reduced to a $100,000 fine with the ability to now play Sunday. Luvu was originally suspended for a violation of the rule against hip-drop tackles.

"Weight off my shoulders," he said Wednesday. "My teammates know who I am. People that know me and the people around me know who I am as a player and person. None of my intentions are to get out there and try to hurt somebody. I try to play the game the right way and control what I can control. I can't control what other people think about it, whoever leaves it up to their hands to make a decision if I can play or not play."

6. Washington will have to mix and match a little bit at cornerback Sunday with Lattimore out. Jonathan Jones and Mike Sainristil both have inside/outside flex, per Quinn, and some of it could be matchup based per series vs. Detroit.

Washington ranks 28th in total defense (377.8) and 29th against the pass (253.6) with five interceptions this season.
