Wolves could be facing competition from multiple national teams’ for Erik ten Hag.
[That’s according to Het Paroo](https://www.parool.nl/sport/als-heitinga-vertrekt-is-ten-hag-de-gedroomde-opvolger-wat-heeft-ajax-hem-te-bieden~bc9b44e8/?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.nl%2F)l, who report that ‘several national associations’ have shown interest in the Dutch coach. They fail to name them specifically, however.
There is also increasing interest from his former club Ajax. Indeed, they met with Ten Hag last week. The source is keen to point out this was not to directly discuss the position, though.
Wolves are on the hunt for their new manager after sacking Vitor Pereira last weekend. Ten Hag was instilled as [one of the early frontrunners](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manager-open-to-discussing-wolves-job-eager-to-return-to-work-in-england/), particularly when Gary O’Neil pulled out.
Reports in the Netherlands then stated he would be interested in speaking to Wolves about the job. Ten Hag is reportedly keen to return to the Premier League but has reservations about Wolves at this moment in time.
Still, there was a conversation to be had at least. Now Wolves may want to speak to him before they’re beaten to the punch.
Het Parool explain that while several national associations are keen, Ajax may be too. The belief is that Ten Hag would offer rapid, immediate improvement from Johnny Heitinga. Expectations are also that low, he could come in and be perceived as a success.
On the flip side, his success with the club in the past could prove to be a burden. It is perhaps that which is a reason why he is not jumping at the chance to return right away.
Wolves need to be decisive, though. Ajax are in the mix, so are national teams, and Ten Hag could end up slipping away if they’re not careful.
