Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is on course to lead the NFL franchise to back-to-back NFL playoff births, with Sean Payton's men 7-2 and top of the AFC West ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders.

The Broncos drafted married man Nix, 25, 12th overall following a lengthy five-year collegiate football career at Auburn between 2019-2021, and Oregon 2022-2023. Nix was the quarterback head coach Payton wanted to revitalize the Broncos, who decided to move on from veteran Russell Wilson, who was on a huge contract.

The Arkansas native, Nix, led the Broncos to a 10-7 regular season record before they lost in the wild-card round to the Buffalo Bills. Across the season, Nix threw for 3,919 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also recorded four rushing touchdowns of his own.

The Broncos elevated their performance this season, seizing the opportunity presented by the Chiefs' slow start in 2025, with Andy Reid's side licking their wounds after the franchise's failed three-peat attempt earlier this year when they were beaten at Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nix has 1,976 passing yards for 17 touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns, with the Broncos on course to clinch a second consecutive playoff birth.

While Nix is proving to be a constant and consistent presence for Payton's Broncos, the quarterback has a rock in his personal life: his wife, Izzy Smoke, his college sweetheart.

Bo Nix's wife, Izzy Smoke

Before becoming known as Izzy Nix, she built an impressive athletic background of her own — spending 14 years in gymnastics and later suiting up for the basketball team at Evangel Christian School in Alabama. She then went on to Auburn University.

Their paths crossed at Auburn, where Izzy was part of the cheer squad and Nix was leading the Tigers on the field from 2019 to 2021. When his college career took him west to Oregon for his final two seasons, Izzy stayed just long enough to finish her degree before heading out to join him.

After a year of dating, Nix proposed on July 30, 2021 — fittingly inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, the home turf where their story began. Izzy marked the moment with an emotional Instagram message: "Bo Chapman Nix, it is my greatest honor and joy that you have chosen me to be your WIFE." She added, "I cannot wait to run the rest of my race with Christ before me and you beside me. HERE'S TO LOVING YOU FOREVER!!!!"

Shortly after his name was called, she shared another heartfelt message reflecting on his long-held dream: "The day I met Bo, he told me about this God-sized dream of his," she wrote.

"I will never stop praising the Lord for His faithfulness or have enough words to express how proud I am of you, Bo. Overjoyed and honored to join Broncos country!!! We've always loved orange and blue."
