The boss has now taken charge of 999 competitive matches in senior football, with the 1000th to come against Liverpool this weekend.
While he enjoyed spectacular spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich before arriving at the Etihad in 2016, his time in Manchester has far outlasted that at his previous two homes.
In fact, Sunday’s game will be the 550th time he has led City into battle.
How fitting it should be against the side whose challenge, above all others, has defined his time in English football, with Guardiola and in particular Jurgen Klopp going head-to-head for the Premier League title on numerous occasions.
With six league titles in eight years and 18 trophies in total, Guardiola has made an indelible mark on English football in the nine-and-a-half years since starting life at City.
