The Germany men’s national are set for their final two World Cup qualifiers ahead of next summer’s tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up 25 players, including four goalkeepers, for their final two internationals of the year against Luxembourg and Slovakia.
Leroy Sané (Galatasaray) has returned to the side having featured a total of 70 times for Germany to date, as has Malick Thiaw (Newcastle United; 3 caps). 19-year-old Said El Mala (1. FC Köln) has received his first call-up to the senior side, having run out for Germany’s youth sides over the years, most recently for the U21s during the October international break.
Julian Nagelsmann: “We want to get the two wins we need to secure qualification to the World Cup and to be assured of a place in the first pot for the World Cup draw in four weeks’ time. Then we’ll be able to continue finalising our planning for 2026. I’ve remained in close contact with Leroy Sané and he’s earned this return due to his strong performances in the Champions League and Süper Lig. Malick Thiaw is a regular started in the Premier League and has become a key player for his side ever since his move to England. We are hoping that Said El Mala, with his easygoing and carefree style of play, is able to show us what he’s capable of. We have a close eye on our prospects from the U21s and, in cooperation with Antonio Di Salvo, always want to give them an opportunity to showcase themselves with the senior side.”
