According to reports, Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s home has been damaged by a massive fire.
Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s home has reportedly been damaged by a massive fire. ESPN reported that “Miami-Dade County fire officials said the blaze was called in around 4:36 a.m. Spoelstra was not in the home at the time. He coached the Heat in Denver on Wednesday night and their charter flight back to Miami did not land until 5:11 a.m.
“Spoelstra arrived at the home shortly after the plane landed, with several fire crews working to try to contain the blaze. Smoke was still seen rising over the property around 8 a.m. but it appeared that most of the fire was contained at that time.
According to his bio on the NBA website, “Since being elevated to his current position on April 28, 2008, Spoelstra has rewarded the faith that HEAT President Pat Riley showed in him by garnering a 704-491 regular season record, a 109-75 postseason mark, 12 postseason appearances, nine division titles, six conference championships and guiding the franchise to a pair of NBA championships.
Three weeks ago, Spoelstra was named head coach of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team through 2028. When the news was announced, he said: “It’s an incredible honor to be named head coach of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.”

He also said: “Representing our country and leading world-class athletes to marquee competitions is one of the greatest privileges in sport. I look forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence and teamwork that defines USA Basketball.”
Erik was selected by USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team managing director Grant Hill and was approved by the USA Basketball Board of Directors. Grant Hill said: “I have known Erik Spoelstra for the better part of two decades and have gotten to know him better throughout our time with USA Basketball.”

He also said: “Spo is not only an outstanding coach, but a great colleague, friend and father, all of which make him the perfect choice to continue the USA Basketball Men’s National Team coaching legacy through 2028.”
Erik Spoelstra and his wife Nikki announced their divorce in November 2023, they have three children: Santiago, Dante, and Ruby.
