Many West Ham fans have been quick to share their thoughts following this morning’s story that Luis Guilherme is likely to leave on loan in January.
The general consensus seems to be that the young Brazilian winger — still only 19 — hasn’t been given a fair chance at the London Stadium. Quite why that is remains unclear, but neither Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter, nor Nuno Espirito Santo have handed the former Palmeiras prospect a proper opportunity.
Perhaps there’s something we don’t see on the training pitch, but it’s clear to most supporters that the winger has natural talent and raw potential.

Guilherme hasn’t been given a fair chance at West Ham but may leave in January
From my perspective, the decision to loan Guilherme out feels more like a reflection of West Ham’s inability to secure a transfer fee than any genuine long-term planning or player development strategy. That said, it certainly is a bit odd to invest £20m in one of South America’s hottest talents without any idea how to integrate him.
However, a temporary move to the Championship could be exactly what he needs — and plenty of Claret & Hugh readers agree.
Fans React to Guilherme Loan News
Benny Boy Baker:
“He has never been given a chance to prove himself. I believe he could become a top striker if given the chance. Letting him go on loan gives the club a chance to see what he can do — and if he succeeds, we could have a top player on our hands. I wouldn’t write him off just yet.”
Sue:
“Great shame. From what I’ve seen of him, he hasn’t been given a fair chance. He’s still young, in a different country, and needs time. We should only loan him for a short period and bring him back if he shows promise with regular games.”
Morty:
“I’d loan him to a Championship club for six months. I still think there’s a player in there.”
