Jaylen Brown’s Big Offseason Goal Paying Off For Celtics

Last season was the definition of a championship hangover for Jaylen Brown. After leading the Boston Celtics to their 18th NBA title in 2024, Brown regressed last year as he battled injuries. After winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP, he was clearly diminished on the court and didn’t look like the same player. Brown played just 63 games — the fewest of his career in a non-COVID season. His 22.2 points per game and 17.8 PER were his lowest since the 2019-2020 campaign, while his .515 effective field goal percentage was the second-lowest of his career. Brown limped to the finish line, struggling throughout the playoffs as he played through a partially torn meniscus. Accordingly, one of Brown’s big goals this season is to stay healthy. Jaylen Brown says his health was a big emphasis going into this season:“You see a lot of guys getting injured around the league. I want to play as many games as I possibly can.”–@CLNSMedia pic.twitter.com/5NKObIihV4— Celtics on CLNS (@CelticsCLNS) November 6, 2025 “Health is key,” Brown said after Wednesday’s 136-107 rout of the Washington Wizards. “You see a lot of guys getting injured around the league and sitting out games. I want to play as many games as I possibly can. Had some injuries last year that kind of derailed me toward the end of the season, so health was a big emphasis going into the year.” Story continues below advertisement Health is extra critical for Brown this year, who needs to carry a larger load until Jayson Tatum returns from his Achilles injury. Fortunately, all of Brown’s hard work during the offseason to strengthen his body is already paying off. The 29-year-old has played in all nine of the Celtics’ games so far, scoring at least 30 points in five of them. If he keeps it up, he could be headed for a career year. Story continues below advertisement Brown is more important to his team than ever, and Boston needs him to stay healthy and keep producing at a high level if it wants to contend for a playoff spot this year.
