Wolves are set to make an official approach to Middlesbrough for manager Rob Edwards today (Thursday) ahead of potentially bringing him in to replace Vitor Pereira, John Percy has reported.
Journalist Liam Keen reported earlier today that Edwards was now the frontrunner to enter the Wolves hot seat, and it seems to have moved on quickly since then. Edwards has previously plied his trade at Molineux as a player, and also spent time there as an under-18 coach, so he's no stranger to the staff at the club.
Pereira was sacked after Wolves' last game in the Premier League, a defeat away to Fulham, as the Wanderers are still searching for their first win in England's top flight this season. Wolves are preparing to face Chelsea this weekend, and it doesn't appear likely that they'll have a new manager in charge, with the search for a new boss still ongoing.

According to journalist John Percy, Wolves are set to make an official approach to Middlesbrough for Edwards, who is now their number one target to replace Pereira at Molineux.
GIVEMESPORT sources previously confirmed that Edwards was one of the candidates to take over from Pereira at Molineux, and he has a release clause in his contract, meaning the Midlands outfit can prise him away from Middlesbrough without them having a say in it. You'd imagine Wolves have received encouragement from Edwards that he wants to make the move, or the approach to Middlesbrough would be pretty pointless.
Edwards has minimal experience of managing in the Premier League, having been in England's top flight with Luton Town. What Edwards has achieved is promotion from the Championship, which Wolves might consider a positive if they are relegated this season, which as it stands, is looking fairly likely.
