“Found Njoku’s Replacement”: NFL Analyst Believes That the Cleveland Browns Should Have Traded…

The Cleveland Browns have a 2-6 record this season and they were not selling a lot of players at the NFL trade deadline. Cleveland tight end David Njoku was thrilled that he was not traded at the NFL trade deadline.

Njoku is 29 years old, and he will be a free agent at the end of the NFL season. He was on the trade block, but no team wanted to trade for him apparently. Njoku has been with Cleveland since the 2017 NFL season. There could be a chance that he could be with the Browns for the long-term despite being a free agent at the end of the season. Should Cleveland have traded him away anyways?

Joel Corry of CBS Sports talked about players who were not traded at the NFL trade deadline. Njoku was one of the players who was not traded at the NFL trade deadline. Corry believes that Cleveland should have traded him to the Green Bay Packers because Tucker Kraft is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

He said,

“Tucker Kraft was probably headed to the Pro Bowl before he was lost for the season in Week 9’s game against the Carolina Panthers with a torn right ACL. He leads NFL tight ends with 15.3 yards per catch. Kraft’s six receiving touchdowns are tied for the second most among tight ends. His 489 receiving yards rank third among tight ends.

The Packers will rely on 2023 second-round pick Luke Musgrave to step up at tight end in Kraft’s absence. Musgrave was selected one round ahead of Kraft in the 2023 NFL Draft. His lacerated kidney as a rookie and left ankle injury last season requiring surgery opened the door for Kraft’s emergence.

The Browns appear to have found Njoku’s replacement in 2025 third-round pick Harold Fannin Jr. He leads the Browns with 38 catches and 352 receiving yards.”

In seven games this season with the Browns, he caught 27 passes for 260 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 9.6 yards per reception. Njoku has been targeted 41 times this season. It would have been a good move for the Packers, but he is thrilled that he was not moved. It will be interesting to see how Green Bay will replace Kraft’s production and how well he will play with Cleveland for the remainder of the season.
