Sunderland have been handed ‘a significant blow’ as Omar Alderete is set to miss the clash with Arsenal.
That’s according to Versus and journalist Christian Martin. They report that Alderete has been ruled out of Sunderland’s game with Arsenal and the international break for Paraguay.
According to their information, he recently underwent testing ahead of those games. Alderete has missed Sunderland’s last two games after a concussion suffered in the 2-0 win over Wolves.
He was expected to return for the 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday. But Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris revealed he was continuing to experience symptoms from the injury.
Versus now report he has undergone further examinations but ‘tested negative’ in them. That has therefore seen him ruled out of Sunderland’s clash with Arsenal. He will also miss the international break, when Paraguay take on the United States and Mexico.
That’s a ‘significant blow’ for Sunderland and Paraguay. Alderete is a key player for both. The central defender has impressed since joining the Black Cats in the summer transfer window.
Now it appears he’s set for an extended spell on the sidelines, with that head injury proving more troublesome than first thought.
