Ruben Amorim believes that Manchester United have become a 'better team' this season thanks to an important change. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games, winning three on the trot before their momentum was halted last weekend, drawing 2-2 away to Nottingham Forest.
It's a far cry from the sort of form that United were in when they last faced Tottenham, their opponents in Saturday's early kick-off. The two teams met in the Europa League final back in May, as Spurs - who also had a dire campaign domestically - ran out 1-0 winners.
Tottenham beat United three more times over the course of the 2024-25 season, twice in the Premier League and once in the Carabao Cup. But Amorim feels that things are different now thanks to his players' new-found confidence.
Asked what's changed about his side since their loss in Bilbao, Amorim replied: "The characteristics of the players are different in the team now. We also have players who played last year. But we are a better team.
"We understand the game better. We are more confident. We reached the Europa League final confident that we could win it. But in this moment, we are playing with a different confidence."
The Red Devils boss insists that his team can beat anyone on their day, having recently won 2-1 at Anfield against reigning champions Liverpool, who they hadn't beaten away from home for the best part of a decade. "We are more confident, we can win any game and we have proved that already," Amorim continued.
"The last game was tough on us because in some moments, we weren't the team that we were supposed to be. We suffered two goals against Brighton, too, but it was different.
"We have a lot to improve but we are now more prepared for anything that happens in the game. We are in a better moment but we still have a lot to do to consistently win games in a row.

"We can manage the games better now. We can always change from one moment we are struggling because we have players who can do that individually and not just as team.
"But if you look at Nottingham Forest game, you can sense the energy was not the same. You can see that from the first moments of the game itself."
