Tributes have been paid to Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland following his death.

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died at 24. In a statement, Dallas Cowboys said: "It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning.”

The statement also read: "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

In a statement, the NFL said: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Cowboys' Marshawn Kneeland.

The statement went on to say that "Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and his teammates. We have been in contact with the Cowboys and have offered support and counselling resources."

Tributes have been paid to the star on his Instagram page, one fan wrote: “Never take a day for granted always appreciate that you breathing cuz you NEVER know when you gonna stop. RIP MARSHAWN,” whilst another said: “no way bro.. Rip💔.”

According to the BBC, “Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.

“He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.”

At the time of writing, it is not yet known the cause of Marshawn Kneeland’s death. Micah Parsons paid tribute to his former Dallas Cowboys teammate on his Instagram stories and wrote: "I'm sorry lil brother I hope you find peace." The Washington Commanders paid tribute to Marshawn on X and wrote: “ Our hearts are with the Kneeland family and the entire Cowboys organization.”

Jesse Holley, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, also paid tribute to Marshawn on X and wrote: “Wow! Tragic News!! Rest In Peace Marshawn Kneeland You Truly Never Know What Someone Is Going Through.”
