Paul Scholes and Gary Neville in agreement over Liverpool vs Man City prediction

Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have shared their thoughts on Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Since both of them are former Manchester United players, they’d likely prefer it if there was a way for both teams to lose the game.

However, because that can’t happen, both teams are going to have to be at their best to try and beat the other.

Pep Guardiola’s and Arne Slot’s men have all been in decent form over the last week or so, with both of them proving that they’re still among the best teams in the world.

Players such as Erling Haaland and Conor Bradley have been standout performers recently, with Sunday’s game potentially already being a six-pointer, especially since City are in second while Liverpool are third.

Ahead of the clash, several guesses of the score have already been made by different pundits, with Neville and Scholes sharing the same prediction.

Gary Neville and Paul Scholes think that Liverpool will beat Manchester City on Sunday

Before Liverpool’s recent wins against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, most people thought that the Reds could end up dropping out of the Premier League title race already.

The month of October was extremely tough for the Reds’ first-team squad, but now that Slot’s starting XI seems fairly solid, they need to build from their recent outings and prove their worth.

And, while speaking on the Stick to Football Podcast, Neville and Scholes have shared their thoughts on the clash and what score they think the game will end up.

“I’ve not got a massive feeling, I just think Liverpool are better, Scholes said.

2-1 to Liverpool then,” Neville replied.

“2-1 to Liverpool,” Neville announced.

Hugo Ekitike has a massive chance to prove why he should start for Liverpool over Alexander Isak

For most of the season, questions have been asked about what Liverpool’s strongest XI is.

Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Milos Kerkez were all brought in during the summer, and some, Wirtz and Ekitike, finally seem to be settling in; the same can’t be said about the others.

Indeed, Isak is out injured at the moment, but the fact that he has a chance to feature on Liverpool’s bench means that Sunday’s game could be Ekitike’s last to prove that he deserves to be the Reds’ focal point.

Stats-wise, the Frenchman has outperformed Isak on every level, but his performances from last season are still fresh in Slot’s memory, and since the Anfield outfit spent £125 million to sign him, he can’t exactly leave him out.

However, if Ekitike manages to net a goal or two, he could make Slot’s decision on who to start much easier.
