Liverpool is preparing for a game against rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon at the Etihad.
Arne Slot‘s side have been able to ‘stop the rot’ of their recent form over the past two games. Firstly, they beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League, before beating Real Madrid 1-0 in the Champions League, in what was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s first game against his former side.
It doesn’t get any easier for Liverpool, though, as they face a trip to play second-placed Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, in what is a huge game for both sides. They will each be hoping to gain some ground on Arsenal, who play Sunderland on Saturday.

This is how we expect Arne Slot to line up his side against Man City on Sunday…
Robertson continues to start ahead of Kerkez
GK – Giorgi Mamardashvili –Alisson is still out injured until after the international break, so Mamardashvili will remain in goal for now.
LB – Andy Robertson – Robertson started ahead of Kerkez against Real Madrid, and he keeps his spot, as Slot will want a reliable defence against Man City’s attack.
CB – Ibrahima Konate – Two clean sheets in a row will boost Konate’s confidence for Liverpool’s defence, he will have to deal with an impressive City attack on Sunday.
CB – Virgil Van Dijk – Van Dijk against Erling Haaland will be box office, it’s as simple as that!
RB – Conor Bradley – With Frimpong out injured, Bradley will start at right-back against Manchester City on Sunday.
Wirtz starts ahead of Szobozslai in the number 10 role
CM – Ryan Gravenberch – Gravenberch scored against Aston Villa in Liverpool’s last Premier League game last weekend.
CM – Alexis MacAllister – The Argentine World Cup winner has struggled this season, but he scored against Real Madrid, so keeps his place.
CAM – Florian Wirtz – Wirtz was excellent against Madrid last time out, so doesn’t deserve to be benched by Slot for the game against City.
Ekitike starts ahead of the injured Isak
LW – Cody Gakpo – Slot will want reliable players against City, and Gakpo is certainly that, he replaces Wirtz on the left, who moves back into the middle of the park.
RW – Mohammed Salah – Salah keeps his place in the starting XI, despite the fact that he hasn’t been at his best this season.
ST – Hugo Ekitike – The Frenchman starts as the number nine for Liverpool as Alexander Isak is injured with a groin issue.
